FAQ

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS YOU TREAT?
Pulling on leash, house breaking, not coming when called, eating everything on walks, jumping on house guests, not following through with a command when asked, barking, separation anxiety.

WHY CHOOSE PRIVATE, ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING?
Your dog will receive specialized training tailored to fit their exact needs and to reach your goals for them. We can train your dog while you work or observe and teach you how to maintain progress and implement into your daily routine. Maybe you’ve taken group classes but they were too basic or not specific enough for your dogs needs. Your dog may be reactive or stressed around other dogs and deserves to be trained in their home where they are comfortable.

WHY SHOULD I PURCHASE A TRAINING PACKAGE?
It is in your dog's best interest. With so many issues I get called about, there is no way for me to teach you all I know about correcting a behavior in a one hour lesson. Dog training often is about resetting your brain and your dogs mindset as well as developing muscle memory.

DO YOU OFFER GROUP CLASSES?
We do not offer group classes at this time!

DO YOU OFFER A GUARANTEE? WHAT KIND OF SUPPORT DO I GET WHEN I WORK WITH YOU?
Because we work with living, breathing, free-thinking people and animals, we do not offer any guarantees. However, we offer you support and guidance every step of the way! You are always more than welcome to email, message me on Instagram or text me. I will follow up with you after we work together and each client will be given a complimentary refresher course per year. Success rates are much higher for clients who commit to consistency and spend atleast 10-15 minutes working with their dog each day!

WHAT ISSUES, OR TRAINING GOALS WON’T YOU WORK WITH?
I am not able to train dogs for any kind of protection work or police work, and I am not willing to take on dogs with aggression or severe anxiety of any kind. We have referrals for clients who need behavior modification or veterinary behaviorist referrals.

I JUST SIGNED MY DOG UP FOR TRAINING, WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Fast paced fun and excitement, reward based training, advanced skill sets, manners, socialization, learning how to read your dog's body language, physical activities to improve focus, concentration and channel excess energy. Once the first session is complete, we will show you what commands or manners we worked on, and how you can reinforce them on your own between sessions!

WILL MY DOG ONLY LISTEN TO THE TRAINER? HOW CAN I BECOME THE LEADER?
Your dog will learn to respond to verbal cues as well as physical cues. Once your dog has fully learned a command, you will receive training as well! We will not leave, or move on to the next lesson, until we are confident that your dog will listen to commands from you. At Good Boy Training, we teach dogs, and train people.

HOW OLD SHOULD DOGS BE BEFORE STARTING A TRAINING PROGRAM?
Puppies can begin training the day they come home, ideally around 8 weeks. While we believe it is important to keep your dog safe from infectious diseases, it is also imperative that you socialize your puppy to many places, people and animals.

WHAT IS A FEAR-FREE PROFESSIONAL?
This certification allows dog trainers to work in partnership with veterinary teams to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety and stress and improve an animal’s emotional well-being during veterinary care and home care.

WHAT IS THE ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL DOG TRAINERS (APDT)?
This is a professional organization we are a part of for dog trainers who are committed to becoming better through continuing education.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AFTER MY DOG FINISHES A TRAINING PROGRAM?
We are there for you and will return if new problems arise or old ones resurface. We offer a lifetime of online support to all of our clients.

I DON’T HAVE A BAD DOG, CAN MY DOG STILL BENEFIT FROM TRAINING?
Your dog does NOT have to be naughty to begin training. The purpose is to PREVENT your dog from ever becoming “bad”. Training is all about communication and is a life saving skill. Training makes living with your dog easier. At the very least, your dog should know basic obedience and household manners.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
Cash, or check.

I THINK MY DOG IS TOO OLD, CAN YOU STILL HELP US?
Absolutely, as long as your dog is willing and able! Not to sound cliche, but old dogs DO love to learn new tricks. Problem behaviors do not need to last a lifetime, you can get help for your dog at any age! Just like us, if dogs do not use their brain, they are more likely to develop doggie dementia.

I SEE YOU’RE BASED IN ASBURY PARK. DO YOU TRAIN OUTSIDE OF THE AREA, OR DO WE HAVE TO COME TO YOU?
We serve the Asbury Park and neighboring communities. At this time we do NOT travel more than 15 minutes out of Asbury Park.
